After a dozen or so hours of manhunt, the police detained a 25-year-old man who is suspected of causing grievous bodily harm to his partner. Doctors are fighting for a woman’s life.
Early on Friday morning from the commune of Iłowa in the district of Żagań in the province of Lubuskie, an ambulance took a 25-year-old woman to the hospital in a serious condition. “Due to the criminal nature of the case, the serious injuries of the victim and the suspicion that her 25-year-old partner may be responsible for such a woman’s condition, officers from many Lubuskie commands quickly joined the action,” the police said.
The manhunt lasted for several hours. “The 25-year-old, who wanted to extend his freedom, was supposed to be hiding in the forest. Police officers cut off his potential escape route so that he would not pose a threat to bystanders. The cooperation of criminal, investigative and preventive services turned out to be crucial,” the release reads.
The man, trying to get out of the manhunt, fled by car along the Żagań bypass. There, after the blockade, he was detained. He went to the headquarters in Żagań, where procedural activities will be carried out.
The case will be clarified by the district prosecutor’s office in Żagań. According to police, “the man may even be charged with attempted murder.” The 25-year-old is in a serious condition in a hospital in Zielona Góra. Doctors are fighting for her life.
