Police officers from Zamość (Lubelskie Voivodeship) detained a 24-year-old who sneaked into the church and put on church vestments. Covered by the parish priest, he threw off his clothes and fled to a nearby property. He also left her in someone else’s clothes belonging to a 21-year-old, from whom he also took a smartwatch. Earlier that day, he stole a car from one of the blocks.
Zamość police officers were sent for an unusual intervention. According to the uniform, the report showed that an unknown man entered the church and then dressed in church robes. “The cross-dresser was noticed by the parish priest. At his request, he took off his clothes and put them back, then left. As it turned out later, he left his money and documents in the victim’s box,” we read on the website of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Zamość.
The officers encountered and detained the described intruder near the church. He turned out to be a 24-year-old citizen Moldova.
Police: An Opel that he stole came to the church
The police determined that the man came to the church in an Opel, which he stole that day from a resident of Łabuń. As they reported to the uniform, the perpetrator took advantage of the fact that the 31-year-old owner left his car in front of the block with the keys inside.
As the officers emphasized, this was not the only theft committed by the 24-year-old that day. “Before he fell into the hands of the officers, he was asked to leave the church and went to a nearby property. Taking advantage of the inattention of the 55-year-old owner, he entered the dressing room at the entrance. When the woman saw the intruder, she also asked him out. She did not notice that he had already put on her clothes 21-year-old son and leave the property in them. The arrested 24-year-old was taken to the Zamość police station. According to police findings, he was only passing through in the Zamość region. According to the uniform, he was sober and tested positive for drugs. “Further tests of the blood taken from him will show whether the man driving the stolen vehicle was under the influence of drugs” – they informed.

The 24-year-old was charged with two counts of theft of a car, clothes and a smartwatch. It is punishable by up to five years in prison. The District Court in Zamość agreed with the request of the police and the prosecutor’s office and placed the 24-year-old in pre-trial detention.
