The District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość (Lublin Voivodeship) submitted an indictment to the court regarding the fatal beating of 16-year-old Eryk, which occurred in February this year. Investigators charged 17-year-old Daniel G. with murder. He faces up to 25 years in prison. Three other teenagers will also be held accountable for their involvement in the fatal beating.
The spokesperson of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość, Anna Rębacz, announced on Wednesday (November 15) that the indictment in this case had been sent to the District Court in Zamość. Investigators charged 17-year-old Daniel G. with assault and murder. The investigation findings show that the accused and two minors beat a 16-year-old, kicking him many times and punching him in the head and body.
“The evidence collected in the case clearly shows that after the beating, the accused – anticipating the possibility of taking the victim’s life and agreeing to it – ran up to the 16-year-old who was getting up after the beating and kicked him in the face from a running start,” the spokeswoman explained in the statement.

Daniel G. pleaded not guilty to murder
According to investigators, this injury led to the death of 16-year-old Eric. “When questioned as a suspect, Daniel G. only admitted to beating the minor, but did not admit to murdering him,” said the spokeswoman of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość.
The opinions of expert psychiatrists and a psychologist show that the accused at the time of the crime he was sane and mentally healthy. As added, he may participate in criminal proceedings.
The accused is still in pre-trial detention. The charges against him face up to 25 years in prison.

The criminal acts of the remaining juvenile perpetrators were also covered by the same indictment. Szymon J. and Arkadiusz P. will be held responsible for their participation in beating up Eric. “In turn, the minor (Gabriela P. – editor’s note) was accused of aiding and abetting by informing the other perpetrators what time the injured party finished his lessons and pointing him out to them among the students leaving the school,” the release specified.
All three, who are currently 17 years old, are currently at large. They were supervised by a probation officer. For the alleged acts, they are subject to educational, therapeutic or corrective measures intended for minors.

The tragedy occurred on February 28, 2023 at ul. Józefa Piłsudski in Zamość, near the Old Town. 16-year-old Eryk was walking on the sidewalk and was attacked and beaten by a group of youth. The perpetrators then fled the scene. Despite resuscitation by the ambulance crew, the boy’s life could not be saved.
