Fire at the production plant in Żarów in Lower Silesia. On the concrete site of the production plant, tanks with chemicals covering an area of ​​about 500 square meters burned down.

The duty officer of the Provincial Command Post of the State Fire Service in Wrocław informed that the fire report was received before 6 on Tuesday. 13 crews were deployed to the site.

– On the square of the production plant in Żarów in the Świdnica poviat, containers, the so-called Mausers, with a flammable liquid were on fire. The fire is now under control and extinguished. There are no injuries, the dispatcher said.

Thick clouds of smoke

Łukasz Grzelak, the press officer of the Świdnica fire brigade, explains that the burning barrels and tank pallets with waste occupied about 500 square meters.

– All this was located on a concrete square, so we do not have fire water runoff into the soil. We have sealed minor leaks, there should be no chemical threat to the area – emphasizes Grzelak.

Firefighters added that there was heavy smoke upon arrival at the scene, but the large fire was quickly brought under control.

– There is a specialist chemical group from Wałbrzych that monitors the state of the atmosphere. There is no threat to the residents, Grzelak assures.

It may take many more hours to extinguish. Representatives of the commune and the Voivodeship Inspectorate for Environmental Protection are on site.
