Among the talks, the topic of “safe sky” over Ukraine

After the talks, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that he and Blinken agreed that air defense over Ukraine was now a priority.

As reported by Rau, the US secretary of state expressed concerns about the next wave of refugees from Ukraine, in this context they discussed the “safe sky” over Ukraine. The chief of Polish diplomacy added that he had discussed in detail the issue of aid for Ukraine with his American counterpart.

He assessed that the war could only end in a strategic defeat for Russia and the restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

He reminded that the Polish position assumes the possibility of talks with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin only after the Russian troops had been driven out of Ukraine. The Minister announced that we are promoting this position among our NATO allies, we have the strong support of most of the eastern flank countries, and none of my interlocutors in the US indicated any alternative to such a position.

Rau also said that talks with Blinken concerned the “current and future” presence of US troops on NATO’s eastern flank. – Naturally, I focused on the Polish part of this flank – he noted.

He assessed that the Americans did not rule out strengthening their forces on the eastern flank. – On the contrary. This is not the time to weaken, this is the time to strengthen the presence, he added.
