A tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening in the town of Żelechów in Garwolin County (Masovian Voivodeship). – At the intersection of Długa and Piłsudskiego Streets, the driver of a Range Rover hit a teenage girl. She died despite the rescuers' efforts.

An ambulance and an emergency medical service helicopter were dispatched to the scene of the accident.

Deputy Commissioner Małgorzata Pychner from the Garwolin police informed that the report of the accident was received at around 7:50 p.m. – The driver of a Range Rover hit a 13-year-old girl in the area of ​​a marked pedestrian crossing. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of the rescuers, the injured girl died – said Pychner.

– The 25-year-old driver was sober. Blood was also taken from him to exclude the presence of other prohibited psychoactive substances in the body. The police seized the driving license of the 25-year-old resident of Łuków County, and the car was secured for legal proceedings – the policewoman explained.

They are determining the causes of the accident

Officers worked at the scene of the accident for several hours. – They made sketches of the incident, secured traces and questioned witnesses. The causes and circumstances of the accident are being thoroughly investigated, Pychner said.

The force of the impact was probably significant. Our reporter's photos show a badly dented bonnet of the Range Rover weighing about 2.5 tons. The airbags in the car deployed.
