Zgierz. Intercity train derailed

On Saturday morning, a train from Płock to Katowice derailed near the station in Zgierz. – Two carriages fell off the tracks. No one was hurt in the incident, says Justyna Moskalewicz-Aderek from the press office of PKP Intercity. Those traveling to Katowice will be transported by bus.

The train from Płock to Katowice left the station in Zgierz at 7.30. – The incident took place shortly afterwards, on track number 1, when the “Chemik” train was leaving the station – says the representative PKP Intercity.

126 people traveled on the train. – Everyone was taken care of by the fire brigade and the train staff. They were given water and safely reached the station in Zgierz, where two buses will pick up the travelers and take them to Katowice, says Justyna Moskalewicz-Aderek.

In connection with the investigation into the circumstances of the incident, two other Intercity trains (“Hutnik” going from Bielsko-Biała to Gdynia and “Kazimierz” going from Bydgoszcz to Krakow) were routed on circular routes.

Investigating the causes

Justyna Moskalewicz-Aderek informs tvn24.pl that preliminary findings show that the team was directed to the wrong track. – I would like to point out that the exact circumstances will be checked by the State Commission for the Investigation of Railway Accidents – emphasizes the representative of the carrier.
