The reason for the derailment of the Płock-Katowice train in Zgierz could have been an error in the switchboard, according to PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe. The incident happened last Saturday. One of the carriages fell off the tracks, no passengers were injured.

– The reason for the derailment of the train in Zgierz could have been a switch error – Rafał Wilgusiak from the press team of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe reported on Friday, adding that the route of the train through the station was probably wrong.

Passenger train TLK Chemik from Płock to Katowice derailed on Saturday, August 19 in the morning behind the railway crossing on Twarda Street in Zgierz (Łódź Province). About 120 people traveled by train. Nobody was injured. Passengers were led out of the carriages and waited for replacement transport at a nearby station.

Seven fire brigades took part in the evacuation of passengers.

As Justyna Moskalewicz-Aderek from the press office of PKP Intercity reported at that time, the train going from Płock to Katowice left the station in Zgierz at 7.30. She reported that the incident took place shortly afterwards, on track number 1, when the “Chemik” train was leaving the station. The third wagon fell off the tracks, one axle was derailed, it did not overturn.
