The Lubuski State Provincial Sanitary Inspector in Gorzów Wielkopolski informed that “as a precautionary principle” – until the situation is clarified and the test results are received – it is not recommended to eat products from gardens and use wells from areas adjacent to the area covered by the fire in Zielona Góra Przylep. The Mayor of Zielona Góra, Janusz Kubicki, announced on Sunday that the first results of testing water samples taken from private wells did not show any contamination by fire water or chemical contamination related to the fire.

On Monday, on the website of the WSEZ in Gorzów Wielkopolski, a communication was published on the safety of consuming products from allotment gardens and using water from household wells from areas adjacent to the area covered by the fire in Zielona Góra Przylep.

“In connection with a number of inquiries from residents and information circulating in the public space on the safety of eating products from gardens, including vegetables or fruits, the Lubuskie Voivodship Sanitary Inspector in Gorzów Wlkp. informs that, as a precautionary principle, he does not recommend their consumption until the situation is clarified and receiving the results of tests commissioned by the city of Zielona Góra.

“At the same time, it is mentioned that, as a precautionary measure, until the situation is clarified and the test results are received, it is not recommended to consume water from private water intakes (wells). You should use the water source provided by the city / commune” – emphasized in the release.

Earlier, on Sunday, the president of Zielona Góra, Janusz Kubicki, announced on social media that “there are the first results of testing water samples taken from private wells”.

“Of the first eight we received, none showed the presence of firewater or chemical contamination associated with the fire,” he said.

Last week, the mayor of Zielona Góra informed that after the fire in the hall in Przylepa, the Gęśnik River was polluted with firefighting waters. Pollution confirmed by the inspectors of the Zielona Góra VIEP.

Fire in the hall in Przylepa

Fire in the hall in Przylep, where dangerous substances were stored, exploded on Saturday July 22. In the evening of the next day, it was reported that the firefighting operations had ended. A total of 376 firefighters, 107 vehicles and two aircraft attended the fire scene.

The investigation into the fire of the hall in Przylepa was initiated by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zielona Góra. The proceedings were initiated in connection with a fire and an explosion of flammable substances by causing a threat to the health and life of people and property of great value. It is punishable by up to eight years in prison.
