Zielona Góra, Wojska Polskiego: He broke a window in a bakery. The camera captured everything

The person on duty in the city monitoring system in Zielona Góra noticed a man who smashed a glass in the bakery door. He immediately notified the police, and he followed the burglar’s further actions on the screens. The 32-year-old managed to stay.

– The officer on duty of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Zielona Góra received information from the Video Monitoring Bureau, which handles the city cameras, that on Wojska Polskiego Street, behind the MZK stop, a young man broke a window in a bakery and wants to get inside – this is the course of the incident that took place Tuesday evening, reports Małgorzata Stanisławska, spokesman for the City Police Headquarters in Zielona Góra.

A police patrol was sent to the scene immediately. At the same time, the employees of the monitoring center did not take their eyes off the man’s further actions. When he saw the police car, he fled towards the city center.

– The uniforms noticed a man corresponding to the description given by the monitoring staff, a few hundred meters from the scene, on the promenade in Zielona Góra. Here, too, he was arrested and then transferred to the municipal headquarters, Stanisławska reports.

It turned out that the man is well known to policemen from Zielona Góra. The 32-year-old broke into a popular donut shop on the promenade a few months earlier. It was then that the city surveillance cameras recorded his actions.

– Immediate interrogation of the man was impossible because he was drunk. The study showed that he has over a per mille of alcohol in the body – says Stanisławska.

At the scene, the policemen conducted a visual inspection and secured evidence. The owner of the bakery estimated the losses at several hundred zlotys.

Will respond under recidivism conditions

The 32-year-old has previously had multiple record of similar crimes and has been in prison for them. Therefore, he will be responsible for the committed act under the conditions of recidivism.

– For attempted theft by burglary, the Penal Code provides for a penalty of one to 10 years’ imprisonment, but ultimately a 32-year-old may face up to 15 years. The man confessed and gave explanations on the case. Investigators from the 2nd police station, who are investigating this case and checking whether the man may also be the perpetrator of other such crimes – concludes Stanisławska.
