Police officers from Złotów (Greater Poland) detained a 34-year-old man who had numerous shoplifting records. More than 100 books were found in his apartment, which he had previously stolen from a chain bookstore. He faces up to five years in prison.
The case was reported on January 30 by aspirant Damian Pachuc from the police in Złotów. According to him, the day before, the officer on duty was notified that a supermarket employee had caught a man who was allegedly stealing an energy drink and industrial products.
The officers found out that the man had also been in this store a few days earlier, but he was not arrested then and could have also committed theft.
– After checking and analyzing the monitoring, it turned out that the employee’s assumptions were correct, because the 34-year-old left the store without paying for the goods he had taken, emphasized Pachuc.
He stole books from bookstores all over Poland
The captured man was checked in the police IT systems. The 34-year-old had numerous shoplifting records. In addition, he was wanted by two prosecutor’s offices in connection with the theft of books from chain bookstores in Poland.
– A resident of the commune was detained and taken to the Złotów unit. Further activities carried out in the Złotów commune, where he lived, led to the discovery and securing of over 100 books that came from a chain bookstore, Pachuc noted.
According to the Penal Code, theft is punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
