“May weekend – it’s worth using this time exceptionally. Just not too literally. However, we are always ready to help! A glider landed safely at the Żory junction on the A1 line. Rest wisely” – he wrote on the Twitter profile of the Katowice branch on Sunday GDDKiA his spokesman Marek Prusak.
The photos he posted show that the glider marked SP-2860, which landed by the highway, is a one-man competition and training model SZD30 Pirat. According to online databases, the machine belongs to Aeroclub ROW (Rybnica Coal District), operating at the airport in Gotartowice, a district of Rybnik adjacent to Żory.
Landing after 13. did not cause traffic disruption on the motorway. Traffic on the main roads of the province Śląskie took place on Saturday and Sunday without any problems (except for road works where traffic jams formed, such as on the extended section of the S1 route Podwarpie – Dąbrowa Górnicza).
