35 times more cases of chicken in a year. We have already forgotten about some diseases, and now they are coming back

Chrztusiec, cocking or a well cough. Until now, he was actually a forgotten disease. He was, but he is just on. – This is basically an epidemic, because, as we say, it is such an increase that it worried us – says Dr. Iwona Witkiewicz from the tuberculosis department and Lung Diseases SPWSZ in Szczecin.

Nearly 32 and a half thousand cases of pursuit only last year. This is over a 35-fold increase compared to 2023.

– This growth is really dramatic – Sanepid warns and warns: This almost forgotten disease comes back and spreads in society. There has been no such dynamic growths for years. Only in March doctors diagnosed over 6,700 cases of pertussis.

– I as a pulmonologist, and it is a pulmonologist who has worked, as you can see, for many years, basically in general for the first 30 years of my professional work I have not seen – says Iwona Witkiewicz.

We could forget about Krztuśc, because prevention worked – protective vaccinations. But since not all of the vaccines, including compulsory ones, we lose collective resistance.

– Adults do not see such a need. This pertussis epidemic proves that the population must renew its immunity. These vaccinations are currently recommended for adults every 10 years – indicates Dr. Joanna Łasecka -Zadrozna, a pediatrician from SPWSZ in Szczecin.

– Of course, we should all be fooled, to this is a very important premise at the moment. We see that the level of vaccination among children is radically decreasing – notes Dr. Joanna Joanna Jursa -Kulesza, an epidemiologist from the Provincial Hospital in Szczecin.

It is young children who are most exposed to illness. That is why it is important for parents to be vaccinated, including pregnant women and the immediate surroundings.

– Small children, where it is the greatest drama that the awaited toddler suddenly dies because of the disease that he could not die if everyone around the cocoon strategy was vaccinated before visiting such a baby – indicates Iwona Witkiewicz.

The incidence of a newborn baby or infant on this disease is associated with a very high risk of complications and even death. In the case of infants, the symptoms of the disease may be non -specific – there may be, among others, a slowdown in the heart.

– Crushter is not a disease that is not just a cough, as you can think widely – notes Joanna Łasecka -Zadrozna.

Adults also get sick and can undergo choking very hard. In addition to suffocating, long -lasting coughing, they go to a doctor with other symptoms:

– Strong chest pain or a broken rib from coughing – says Iwona Witkiewicz – I won't even say about urinary incontinence, because during this kind of cough it is practically a diaper is the norm – he adds. – Falling of reproductive dozen in women, anal falling out. Dramatic thing (…). Unfortunately, this violent cough causes an increase in blood pressure and stumps to the brain and this is what he can really take life – he indicates.

Vaccines are the best weapon in combat not only with Krztuśc.

– In Poland, many people refuse to vaccinate their children not because of their anti -vaccination views, but because of the fear of vaccinations, this fear that was caused by infodemia, disinformation, and no one has relieved this fear – comments Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski, Chief Sanitary Inspector.

– We should primarily educate, educate, educate and educate again – emphasizes Joanna Jursa -Kulesza.

This is mainly a task for family doctors. The Chief Sanitary Inspector has just started the long -announced vaccination control throughout Poland. Its purpose is to create an electronic vaccination list and estimate the number of people who avoid them. This number is growing disturbingly every year.

This is the reason that infectious diseases, such as the just mentioned chrztusiec, Odra or diphtheria, are coming back.
