Over three hundred barts live in the forests of the Knyszyńska Forest. This is one of the eight large populations of this mammal in Poland. Bison is mainly inhabited by the forests of northeastern Poland, but in the wild we can also find them in the west of the country and in the Bieszczady Mountains. The number of the entire Polish population is estimated at over 2,500 individuals.
