In South Carolina, 42-year-old Mikal Mahdi was shot by three volunteers for the murder of a public security officer. This is the second execution by shooting in this state within five weeks.

The convict chose this execution method instead of a deadly injection or electric chair. The verdict was made by three volunteers. The man was recognized as a deceased less than four minutes after shot fired. It was the second execution by shooting in this state within five weeks. At the beginning of March he was lost 67-year-old Brad Sigmon, convicted of murder in 2001 parents of a woman who broke up with him.

Mahdi confessed to killing James Myers – a officer of public security services from Orangeburg in 2024. He shot him at least eight times and burned his body. He also confessed to killing Christopher Boggs – a seller in a grocery store in North Carolina.

The recent appeals of the convict were rejected by the United States Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Prosecutors emphasized Mahdie's aggressive behavior, including attacks on prison guards. The man's defenders referred to his traumatic childhood.
