The Emirates Sevens Series is back in December! Players far and wide will return to the desert of Dubai, where the country has hosted the event since 1999. The last tournament took place in 2019, which saw the New Zealand Women and South African Springboks taking home their respective titles. The 2021 tournament will be the first in two years and fresh off the excitement and thrill of the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The Sevens Series is one of the most exciting tournaments in sports history, attracting thousands of fans and spectators as well as rugby bettors around the world.
Following extensive discussions, organisers have finally confirmed that the world-famous sporting event will take place come December 2021. The event will take place at the Seven Stadium in Dubai and is a culmination of more than just rugby. The event includes the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, invitational rugby, as well as additional sports like cricket and netball. On top of the thrilling experience of watching these incredible teams vying for the champion title, the sports festival will host an array of activities, entertainment, music and dining opportunities.
Exciting developments in store
The Seven Series is a fast-paced version of rugby union, where seven players on each side compete on a regular-sized rugby field. The thrill of these games is that it’s much shorter, with each half lasting just seven minutes, hence the name of the tournament. The festival in Dubai is now in its 52nd year, and as if expected of the country, several exciting developments are in store for everyone in attendance. This includes the stylish new ‘Beats on 2’ experience, a swanky bar with live international DJs spinning the decks for the duration of the event. The will also be a Heineken Tavern with live music, with a live headline band taking the Rugby Rock stage to close the event on Saturday evening.
At the end of the first night, fans can let their hair down and celebrate together at the Frequency on 8 live stage, again with DJs from around the world taking to the stage, including an international headliner. VIP fans can also enjoy an enhanced hospitality experience this year with the launch of The Hangar, where the who’s-who rubs shoulders and indulge in the very best entertainment, food and drink. The North Stand will also feature the tournament’s first-ever pitchside bar.

The festival is dedicated to providing a unique entertainment experience for all and is more than just a sporting event. According to tournament organisers, the stage has been set for one of the most exciting and memorable experiences in recent history.
They have committed to modernising the entire experience, including improving the fans’ experience and the safety of all in attendance. All entertainment and musical acts will be announced closer to the event date, but insiders confirm that this information will be made available throughout September and October. Tickets will also go on sale in September via the Dubai Rugby 7s website and the Emirates Dubai 7s mobile app.
