Biedronka and DHL are developing a network of parcel machines. 600 machines have already been installed

As part of the first stage of cooperation, over 600 DHL BOX machines were placed in Poland. They are equipped with touch screens, among other things, and can also be operated using the Mój DHL application. The latter allows, among other things, remote opening of the box, as well as tracking the status of shipments and the courier's route. Parcels will wait in the machines for four days to be collected. “Cooperation with DHL means that there are now over 1.8 thousand parcel machines of leading service providers in Biedronka stores throughout Poland,” Biedronka informed in press release.

PrzemysÅ‚aw Jurowicz, Real Estate Director at Biedronka, also emphasized that cooperation with DHL will be one of the steps in implementing the “strategic mission of being close to customers”. – Biedronka stores, especially those in smaller towns, are often the focal point of local life. This is where you can do comprehensive shopping for the whole family, buy local newspapers, send or receive a parcel, and often even charge an electric car – he noted.

Customers are increasingly willing to use parcel machines

Anna Krauze, Director of Strategic E-Commerce Development at DHL eCommerce Polska, draws attention to the trend of adapting the offer to the lifestyle and preferences of recipients. – Customers often expect parcels to be delivered to their home, office or to a parcel machine located at the store where they plan to shop, wanting to take care of as many matters as possible as conveniently, quickly and preferably in one place. Our response to this constantly strengthening trend is to build a strong network of parcel machines, located in places where customers can take care of several matters at the same time – she said.

According to the European Online Shopper Survey 2023 conducted by DHL, customers are increasingly using parcel machines. Preferences for home deliveries have fallen from 73% to 64%, and among Polish customers, as many as half prefer to collect their ordered parcel from a machine. The DHL network currently consists of 19,000 collection and shipment points. Of these, 3,500 are DHL BOX 24/7 parcel machines.
