The Federal Bureau of Investigation has finally confirmed that Donald Trump was wounded by a bullet during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whole or fragmented, fired from the deceased's rifle,” the FBI statement released Friday said. Trump announced that he would hold another rally in Butler, the city where the attack took place.

The FBI is investigating the failed assassination attempt on the former president in Butler, Pennsylvania, in which one person was killed and two others were injured. The shooter was shot dead by the Secret Service.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately something was wrong, I heard the swish, the shots and immediately felt the bullet penetrate the skin. There was a lot of bleeding and that's when I realized what was happening,” Trump wrote a few hours after the incident, in a post on his Truth Social platform. Trump also declared that he “took a bullet for democracy.”

FBI confirms: it was a missile

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has finally confirmed that during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania Donald Trump was wounded by a bullet. “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, either whole or fragmented, fired from the deceased's rifle,” the FBI said in a statement released Friday.

On Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray told a congressional hearing that, to his knowledge, it was unclear whether Trump was shot or whether a piece of shrapnel from the teleprompter “grazed” the former president’s ear. “With all due respect to former President Donald Trump, it’s still unclear whether it was a bullet or shrapnel (from the teleprompter) that struck his ear,” he said.

“No, unfortunately it was a bullet that hit me in the ear – no glass or shrapnel,” Donald Trump responded to the FBI director's suggestion on the Truth Social platform. Ronny Jackson, who was Trump's personal physician in the White House, stated that “there is absolutely no evidence that it was anything other than a bullet.”

The FBI director was criticized by many Republican Party politicians and accused of incompetence. The FBI responded to the allegations by saying that it does not deny the fact that the president was injured in an assassination attempt, in which one person died.

“It's no wonder the once esteemed FBI has lost the trust of the American people,” Trump wrote on his social media, categorically rejecting any other interpretation of the events of July 13, when Thomas Matthew Crooks tried to kill him.

Trump announces return to Butler, Pennsylvania, where he was shot

“I will be returning to Butler, Pennsylvania for a big and wonderful rally,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. He did not provide a date for the event, only saying to “wait for details.”

Two weeks ago, during a rally in Butler, Donald Trump was shot in the ear from a distance of 135 meters. The former president’s security guards shot and killed the attacker, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

According to the New York Times, the Secret Service has suggested to Trump's campaign team that he no longer hold outdoor rallies. It is not known where the former president's meeting with his supporters will take place in Butler. After the attack, the 78-year-old politician only performed in large halls.
