– The Supreme Audit Office will conduct an audit of financial flows between the state and The Church Catholic, as well as other religious associations – he said on Friday 26 July at a press conference in the Sejm, Speaker Szymon Hołownia, quoted by stooq.pl for PAP. He added that the goal is to ensure the transparency of the state's relations with the Church.

This is about what voters have been asking us since we entered politics. No one will impose on anyone what they should believe in or which Church they should believe in – said Hołownia. As the Speaker of the Sejm added, the aim of the audit is to make sure that the financing of the Catholic Church is not an “exchange of propaganda services” and that it is conducted with respect for “every penny”.

Szymon Hołownia submitted an application for an audit by the Supreme Audit Office regarding the financing of religious associations at the beginning of March. “It's a trick that NIK will knock on Rydzyk's door,” the politician wrote at the time on X. – Do you know that over the last eight years governments Law and Justice institutions associated with Father Tadeusz Rydzyk received over 400 million zlotys from the state and its various agencies? This is an amount that could build 40 new kindergartens – said Hołownia.
