Kamala Harris is leading in four of the seven key election states in the US, and is tied with Donald Trump in one, according to a Morning Consult poll for Bloomberg News.
This is a noticeable change from that survey from early July, when Trump was ahead of Biden by 2 percentage points and was leading in five of the seven so-called swing states – states where the Republican candidate sometimes wins the election and sometimes the Democratic candidate.
The latest poll shows Harris leading Trump by 11 percentage points in Michigan and by 2 points in Nevada, Arizona and Wisconsin. Trump leads her by 4 percentage points in Pennsylvania and 2 percentage points in North Carolina. They are tied in Georgia.
The poll was conducted online July 24-28. The margin of error ranges from 1 percentage point (in Georgia) to 7 percentage points (in Pennsylvania), depending on the state.
Harris campaign gains momentum
According to Washington-based The Hill, the poll is the latest sign that Harris' campaign has picked up steam following Biden's decision not to seek reelection.
