Officers of the Silesian Customs and Tax Office, during a routine inspection on the A4 motorway, found illegally transported waste in one of the trucks that was supposed to be transporting aluminum elements.
During a routine inspection carried out on a section of the A4 motorway near Gliwice, officers of the Silesian Customs and Fiscal Office stopped a truck with Polish registration numbers at a toll collection point. They discovered that instead of the declared aluminum elements, it was carrying mixed waste. In addition to aluminum, there was foil, used diapers, plastics and wood. The cargo was classified as non-ferrous metals, but the actual state differed from this declaration.
– The driver did not have the required documents for transporting waste, and the carrier did not obtain permission from the Chief Inspectorate for Environmental Protection to import it to Poland – said Katarzyna Klos from the Fiscal Administration Chamber in Katowice.
The Provincial Environmental Protection Inspectorate confirmed that the waste was incorrectly classified, making its transport illegal. Similar violations are punishable by an administrative penalty of PLN 42,000.
The cargo is to be returned to Germany
– Currently, the entire transport is under supervision in the parking lot of a private company due to the fact that there was no space in the parking lots designated by the district governor. After the customs procedure is completed, the goods will most likely be returned to German – Klos explained.
The case was transferred to the Customs Proceedings Department of the Silesian Customs and Tax Office.
