On three rivers in the south of the Opole province, alarm levels have been exceeded. Due to the flood situation in the south of the Opole province, a decision was made to evacuate some of the residents of the village of Morów and several hundred residents of Głuchołazy. Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak is on site.
“A difficult night in Głuchołazy. Before 3 a.m., due to the rising water level in Biała Głuchołaska and after consulting with the Ministry of Interior and Administration and the National Police Headquarters, the mayor decided to evacuate the residents of several streets adjacent to the river,” wrote the head of the X platform. Ministry of Interior and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak.
“60 police officers will go into action, and the city and the river are currently secured by 100 firefighters. Deputy Minister Leśniakiewicz and I will stay in the Nysa district until morning – at 8 a.m. the crisis team will be at the starosty office,” he added.
Evacuation in Morowo and Głuchołazy due to flood threat
In the south of the Opole province, the situation related to continuous rainfall is worsening. As the officer on duty at the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Opole said, after the Mora River emerged from the riverbed, residents of six properties in the village of Morów were evacuated. In Głuchołazy, where the level of the Biała Głuchołaska River exceeded the alarm level by one meter, 400 residents of the city are being evacuated. In the last few hours, Opole firefighters have received about 500 calls for various types of interventions related to the flood situation – mainly in the south of the region. Residents of the village of Zawiszyce in the Głubczyce commune report that the Stradunia River has overflowed its banks, flooding the yards of properties in the village. Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Tomasz Siemoniak arrived at the command post of the district headquarters of the State Fire Service in Nysa and familiarized himself with the flood situation. According to the IMWM report, a rain zone is slowly moving over the southern and central part of the Opole Voivodeship, with rainfall ranging from 10 to 15 litres per hour.
