– The Prime Minister invited me for a conversation on Friday morning, through the head of his office. It was quite short, on the basis that there is a need to deal with this topic. And you simply cannot refuse such proposals – said KO MEP Marcin Kierwiński, who is soon to officially become the government's plenipotentiary for reconstruction after the flood. He also explained that he is to become a minister without portfolio.
The Prime Minister on Friday Donald Tusk he informed that Marcin Kierwinski will be the government's plenipotentiary for flood reconstruction. Kierwiński agreed to resign from his mandate as an MEP and join the government. On Monday, the head of the Chancellery of the President, Małgorzata Paprocka, announced that the Chancellery of the President had received an application to appoint Marcin Kierwiński to the government.
“You just can't refuse such offers”
In “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, Kierwiński was asked whether this means that he will now become a minister without portfolio.
– Yes, today the Prime Minister sent the appropriate documents to the President. Andrzej Duda. I am to be a minister in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, responsible for coordinating all activities related to the reconstruction of flood areas – he explained.
When asked what made him resign from his mandate as MEP, he replied that “the prime minister invited him for a conversation on Friday morning, through the head of his chancellery”. – The conversation was quite short, on the basis that there is a need to address this topic. And you simply cannot refuse such proposals – he said.
– These are proposals that bring enormous challenges, and this is needed in politics, but also a gigantic honor to work for the Polish government, for Poles. So this decision was immediate – he said.
