On Wednesday, the Sejm will consider the draft amendment to the act on special solutions for removing the effects of floods. The main point of today's session will be the evening information from the Prime Minister and members of the government on the floods in southwestern Poland.
Prime minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday he asked the ministers accompanying him during the staff meeting to prepare appropriate data during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in order to gather the most up-to-date information possible, so that the parliament and the public “can receive a compendium of knowledge about what has happened over the past few days and at what stage we are in the fight against the flood”.
On Wednesday, the Sejm will begin a four-day session. Deputies will also work on Thursday and Friday, and next Tuesday, October 1. Among other things, the Sejm will consider a draft amendment to the act on special solutions related to removing the effects of flooding.
The main point of Wednesday's session will be the evening, scheduled for 3.5 hours, information from the Prime Minister and members of the government on the floods in southwestern Poland. 15-minute statements on behalf of the clubs and 5-minute statements on behalf of the circles are planned. The latter point of Wednesday's session is to begin at 18:15 and last until 21:45.
On Thursday, there will be a debate on the draft of the special flood act, which was adopted on Tuesday.
Hołownia: the expectations of people affected by the tragedy are clear
Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Holownia on Tuesday he said that during the session starting on Wednesday, the House will deal with, among other things, the draft amendment to the act on special solutions related to removing the effects of floods and will familiarize itself with the government's information on the flood. – The expectations of people affected by this tragedy are very clear (…): that, while trying to bring order to the situation, we should not think about ourselves and our political or communication benefits, but that we should try to solve the problems that have appeared in their lives in connection with the great flood. I hope that the session of the Sejm will be subordinated to this spirit – said the Speaker.
In connection with the flood that is sweeping through Poland, the government has adopted a bill that introduces many solutions to help flood victims cope with its effects. The bill includes additional forms of assistance for people who have been harmed by the element. Tusk announced that the government will be able to provide – together with European funds – up to PLN 23 billion for the “Reconstruction Plus” program.
