An unusual situation on Helska Street in Łódź. The holes in this dirt road were patched with asphalt. – Unfortunately, it is hard to resist the impression that this is a solution that will not survive the upcoming winter – comments the founder of the LDZ Motoryzowani Łodzianie profile. A spokesman for the Road and Transport Authority in Łódź assures that “this is a temporary solution that will be replaced by hardening, leveling the road or major maintenance works.”
Photos of poured bituminous mass in holes on Helska Street in Łódź were published by the Facebook profile of LDZ Zmotoryzowani Łodzianie. They show a large fragment of asphalt lying on a dirt road.
“A solution that will not survive the upcoming winter”
Jarosław Kostrzewa from LDZ Zmotoryzowani Łodzianie argues in an interview with tvn24.pl that such work makes no sense. – Łódź is attracting attention again, this time due to a fragment of asphalt that appeared on the dirt Helska Street. Unfortunately, it is hard to resist the impression that this is a solution that will not survive the upcoming winter. Instead of focusing on repairing the streets that actually need renovation, the city decided to make an investment that does not meet the expectations of residents. This is money thrown away – says a social activist.
He adds that the best solution to this situation would be to level the road using a machine – a grader.
ZDiT: Temporary solution
We asked the spokesman of the Road and Transport Authority in Łódź to comment on this matter. – I understand that it may seem incomprehensible, but any form that temporarily improves the ability of residents to access their property is better than holes and unevenness. This is a temporary solution that will be replaced by hardening, leveling the road or major maintenance works – said Tomasz Andrzejewski.
