German police detained a teenager from Wuppertal (North Rhine-Westphalia) suspected of Islamist activities. According to the weekly “Spiegel”, the boy was planning an attack on the Jewish community.
A special unit at the prosecutor's office in Duesseldorf is investigating the case of a 15-year-old suspected of conspiracy to commit a crime. As reported on Thursday by “Der Spiegel” after the terrorist attack in Solingen at the end of Augustthe teenager allegedly contacted an Islamist who incited him to commit a knife attack.
During the investigation, it was found that the two discussed a possible attack on festivals or Jewish communities, writes the German weekly. The suspected teenager from Wuppertal also allegedly posted videos on TikTok showing Islamic State flags.
The teenage suspect was arrested
German security authorities received information about this boy at the end of August. Police detained him as a precautionary measure until the end of commemorations of the knife attack in Solingen.
The teenager was then released. Only when investigators found correspondence on his mobile phone with the man suspected of the Solingen attack, the court in Wuppertal ordered the detention of the 15-year-old.
