Biedroń about Palikot: he got lost

On Thursday it happened the CBA detained three people, including Janusz Palikot – former politician and now entrepreneur. On Friday, Palikot was charged, and the prosecutor's office filed a request for provisional arrest against him in the District Court for Wrocław-Śródmieście. On Saturday afternoon, the Wrocław court decided on a two-month conditional arrest.

– I have good memories of Janusz Palikot. I am in national politics, among other things, thanks to Janusz Palikot, who gave me a chance – admitted Palikot's former colleague in “Fakty po Faktach” Robert Biedroń.

– Janusz Palikot introduced topics to the Polish political scene that were taboo and I appreciate it. Separation of church and state, civil partnerships, women's rights. He did it in a specific way that aroused emotions and sometimes embarrassment for some people. But when it came to business, he was lost. Here it must be said clearly: everything indicates that he has deceived many people and must answer for his actions – said the guest of “Fakty po Faktach”.

He also said that, in his opinion, “the way the prosecutor's office behaves is somewhat controversial.” – I don't know if such a nativity scene is necessary. (…) This case is very spectacular and I will not be surprised if this case also ends up in Strasbourg. If what Father says is true search of phones outstanding attorney Jacek Dubois, it is unnecessary, because it works to the advantage of Janusz Palikot, who faces very serious charges – said the politician.

Robert Biedroń also admitted that “people are very complex, it is never black and white.”

– Janusz Palikot, in my opinion, has done a lot of good in Polish politics. He introduced many politicians who are still active today. He introduced many topics that had not been raised before. But as an entrepreneur, he has probably turned out to be a villain in recent years, he added.

When asked whether he would be the Left's candidate for president, Biedroń replied: “no, I think today is the time for women.” – In the Left, we are lucky that we have a choice among presidential candidates – said the guest of “Fakty po Faktach”.

– The left will have its candidate, and perhaps a female candidate. Even more than maybe. We will present this candidacy in the coming weeks, he announced.

He admitted that the ambition to run for the Left was “expressed by several female leaders.” – They should have a chance to compete. It's something very prestigious. I am proud that I was the Left's candidate in the presidential elections. I think this is an important moment for a person with political ambitions to gain so much trust. I think there will be several candidates, Biedroń added.

Robert Biedroń was also asked whether the Left would put forward its candidate also if he decided to run in the elections – despite previous declarations – Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

– This is speculation, and I wouldn't like to speculate. Of course, we take these scenarios into account, but we also need to prepare for the presidential elections, because the stakes are very high. In this presidential election, the democratic candidate must win, because the president Andrzej Duda he is a president who has disappointed millions of Poles – said the guest of “Fakty po Faktach”.
