Tomasz Adamek is one of the best Polish boxers in history, who won the IBF and IBO world champion titles in the cruiserweight division and the WBC light heavyweight titles. When he lost to Jarrell Miller in early October 2018, it seemed that he would not return to the ring. However, at the end of last year, the KSW organization announced that he would face Mamed Khalidov in a blockbuster fight. And he won, although it aroused great controversy because his rival was unable to continue fighting due to a hand injury.
Tomasz Adamek for president? A specific declaration
Shortly afterwards, Adamek made his debut in Fame MMA. First, in May, he defeated Patryk Bandurski, and recently he proved his class in a confrontation with Kasjusz “Don Kasjo” Życiński. – I'm 47 years old and I have nothing better to do. If I can have fun here and make a lot of money, why would I say no – he explained.
Adamek gained considerable popularity among young people and became famous again. “Republic” published the results of the SW Research poll on Sunday: who would be the best PiS candidate for president if a non-party person was supported? As many as 66.5 percent of respondents abstained from voting, while the journalist Krzysztof Stanowski received the greatest support – 8.5 percent. Adamek reached fifth result – 4.9 percent
So does the boxer consider running in the presidential elections? He left no doubts. – It wouldn't be possible, because I live permanently in the United States. I have also had dual citizenship for many years, he explained Interia. Additionally, he would not like to get involved in politics which, as he put it, “is not clean.”
– We see what is happening in the USA, where the attack on Donald Trump was carried out. If you say too many good things, you are an enemy to everyone. That's what politics is. I prefer a normal life. “I will soon become a grandfather for the second time,” he said. However, this was not an unfounded question, because in 2014 the boxer ran as number one on the Upper Silesian Solidarna Polska list in the European Parliament elections.
– I was in politics for a while. I've seen what it looks like and I'm not attracted to her. It's best to stay away from her, although you can talk about her sometimes. Politics is not for me. Let others rule Poland as best they can. I prefer my normal life. (…) Of course, in all this I do not forget about God, because you cannot go through life without tearing your knees and having a rosary in your hand – he concluded.
