Soldiers of the 72nd light infantry battalion from Kościerzyna found 10,000 euros while cleaning the area near Stronie Śląskie. The money was in a garbage bag. They were handed over to the police who will try to find the owner.
The money was found on Saturday by soldiers from the 72nd battalion WOT from Kościerzyna. Piotr Langenfeld, spokesman for the 7th Pomeranian WOT Brigade, emphasized that the bag contained 10,000. euro.

“The soldiers found it near the flood embankment, on the road between Stronie Śląskie and Lądek-Zdrój. They opened the bag on commission, and the battalion commander, Lt. Col. Marcin Łyskanowski, was informed. The police were called, who secured the find, a report was written and the find was handed over to the Lower Silesian police,” said Piotr Langenfeld.
Soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces have been present in the areas affected by the flood for a month now. Units from all over the country come there. “Our soldiers are very well received, there is a lot of positive feedback. Real emotional bonds are created between the residents and the soldiers and that is the most important thing,” said Piotr Langenfeld.
By the decision of Lt. Col. Marcin Łyskanowski, the finders of the money will be rewarded for their attitude.
The press team of the WOT command reported on Friday the only case of reprehensible behavior of a soldier involved in Operation FENIKS. The Military Police detained a soldier suspected of misappropriating property intended for flood victims. An investigation was initiated immediately. The soldier was charged with prosecutors. As emphasized, it was an extraordinary and surprising situation for both the WOT command and the soldiers.
