The management board of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship adopted a resolution to dismiss the current director of the Małopolska Science Center Cogiteon. Piotr Szymański will be replaced by Kazimierz Koprowski, who will hold this position until the new management is elected. This is the result of an inspection ordered by the Marshal's Office in response to reports of mobbing allegedly carried out by the deputy director of Cogiteon, Aneta Wądrzyk.
The decision to appoint Koprowski was announced on Friday. A day earlier, the voivodeship board removed Piotr Szymański from this position.
As Szymon Huptyś, acting director of the UMWM press office, explained, the reason for the dismissal of the current director of the Center are the irregularities found during the inspection that were committed by the management.
– The voivodeship board made this decision out of concern for the good functioning of one of the most important institutions in Małopolska. The assumption is not only to conduct Cogiteon's activities in a strategically correct manner, focused on children and youth, but also to avoid problems within the institution itself – noted Huptyś, adding that Kazimierz Koprowski is an experienced manager with competences also in the field of education . He will manage the facility in the coming months, until a new director is elected.
Inspections at Cogiteon
Marshal of Małopolska Łukasz Smółka ordered inspections at the facility in connection with reports about the behavior of Cogiteon's vice-director Aneta Wądrzyk towards employees. In July, local media reported on situations that occurred in the institution. Co-workers accused the deputy director of calling them vulgar names, taking phones and documents brought to the human resources department out of their hands, and forbidding an employee who was crying during the confrontation to go to the bathroom and making fun of her.
The National Labor Inspectorate also carried out an inspection of the unit.
The Marshal's Office emphasizes that the issue of staffing the remaining directors is the responsibility of the director himself, and in this case, decisions regarding deputy directors will be made by Koprowski.
Cogiteon is a cultural institution of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The center was opened in June this year. as an institution dedicated to the popularization of natural sciences and reflection on man's place in the universe.
