Thanks to Pendolino trains on the Szczecin – Warsaw route, we will recover passengers – says Maciej Dutkiewicz, spokesman for PKP Intercity. In his opinion, the smaller number of people riding on this route was due to renovation works carried out in recent years. The new train timetable comes into force on December 15 this year. Travelers have to cover many routes in a shorter time.

– Due to the renovation that has been carried out on the route to Poznań and Szczecin in recent years, there are fewer passengers, and with the help of the Pendolino train we will regain these passengers – said Dutkiewicz, when asked why the carrier decided to introduce this particular train into the new timetable. train on the Szczecin-Warsaw route. The train will cover the route in 4 hours 20 minutes.

New Pendolino route from Warsaw to Szczecin

So far, he added Pendolino trains they traveled mainly in the north-south direction – i.e. Kraków, Katowice, Warsaw, Gdynia. – Our experience, mainly from holidays, is that a single Pendolino train turned out to be insufficient when it comes to transporting passengers. For this reason, we launched double Pendolino trains, but this is not entirely rational – he said.

Dutkiewicz also reminded that one of the most important operational parameters of Pendolino trains is its speed. The highest speed that can be achieved in Poland, due to the characteristics of the line, is 200 km/h, although the maximum speed of the Polish Pendolino is 250 km/h.

– As we have more and more locomotives that can reach speeds of 200 km/h, we can more flexibly manage rolling stock that reaches such speeds. (…) For this reason, we can expect that we will have more trains traveling at 200 km/h, with a large capacity, up to 1,000 passengers, which will run on the Kraków-Katowice-Warsaw-Gdynia route – he said. He pointed out that a single Pendolino can take 400 passengers on board.

The pool of trains has expanded

He noted that the wagons adapted to a speed of 200 km/h are top-class vehicles, and the trains composed of them cover the routes previously used by Pendolino in the same time. These trains always have one Wars wagon. – The pool of trains that can run as fast as Pendolino has expanded. Such trains also provide the same travel comfort as Pendolino, he said.

PKP Intercity has several locomotives that can run trains at a speed of 200 km/h.

The new train timetable comes into force on December 15 this year. We will travel from Warsaw to Szczecin in a shorter time (about 4 hours 20 minutes). From the capital of Western Pomerania we will reach not only Warsaw, but also the capital of Greater Poland faster (approx. 1 h 50 min.). This is the result of increasing the speed on this route to 160 km/h (on the sections Sochaczew – Łowicz – Kutno and Wronki – Krzyż – Szczecin Dąbie). Also, thanks to the increase in train speed to 160 km/h on the Małkinia – Białystok section, the fastest train from Warsaw will reach the capital of Podlasie in 1 hour 30 minutes.

The effect of increasing the speed on railway lines will also be the travel time from the capital to Zielona Góra (4 h 38 minutes), as well as from Zielona Góra to Szczecin – the fastest connection will take 2 h 11 minutes.

In turn, in Lower Silesia in December, the fastest long-distance InterCity train from Wrocław will run to the Polish-Czech border in Międzylesie in less than 100 minutes. This will be the shortest journey on this line in history.

The travel time of regional trains will also be shortened. We will get from Krakow to Zakopane in just over 2 hours. From Zamość to the capital of Małopolska in less than 4 hours. Residents of Gdańsk will reach Wrocław about 20 minutes faster (in about 4 hours 20 minutes).

We will travel from Gdynia to Słupsk in 1 hour 22 minutes. On the modernized Lębork – Słupsk section, replacement bus transport (ZKA) will be abolished. Thanks to the completion of the next stage of works on the Skarżysko-Kamienna – Sandomierz route and the abolition of ZKA, we will gain a shorter travel time on the Radom – Przemyśl route (3 h 59 minutes). The travel time from Warsaw to Łódź Fabryczna (1 h 7 minutes) and to Lublin (1 h 46 minutes) will also be shortened.
