MP Marek Jakubiak from the Free Republicans parliamentary group announced on Monday that he will run in next year's presidential elections. – Today we need a tough president and I will be one – he argued.

– We are fighting for Poland and we are fighting for the president of the Republic of Poland, the father of the nation. (…) I would like to declare that I will run (in the elections – editor's note) for the President of the Republic of Poland – announced MP Marek Jakubiak (Freedom Republicans) on Monday evening on Telewizja Republika.

– I am ready to take responsibility for the fate of Poland. And for some people, it won't be easy. However, Poles' place is certainly in Poland, and Poland's place is in Europe – added the politician.

“Today we need a tough president and I will be one.”

Jakubiak went on to say that he knows “it won't be easy.” – I know it will take a lot of work, but I am not a politician to wonder whether I am pretty, ugly, young, or whether I know several languages. I'm the only one coming to make Poland safe. I'm coming to get rid of all the baggage, the enemies of the nation and the enemies of our homeland, he said.

– Poland, which recently broke records in all of them pollstoday it is in decline and today we need a tough president and that's what I will be – said Jakubiak.

Jakubiak already tried his hand at the previous presidential elections in 2020. He obtained 0.17 percent then. votes. In the last parliamentary elections in 2023, he ran from the Law and Justice party lists and won a parliamentary seat. Together with MP Jarosław Sachajko, Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski, Paweł Kukiz is currently forming the Free Republicans parliamentary group.

This is his second term in parliament. In 2015, he ran from the Kukiz'15 lists. In 2018, he was the Kukiz'15 candidate for the mayor of Warsaw.

The presidential elections will be held in spring next year. Andrzej Duda ends in office in August 2025.
