Arnold Schwarzenegger announced that he would vote for Kamala Harris in the presidential election. The Hollywood star and former Republican governor of California shared this information in a long post on social media.
“I don't usually endorse anyone publicly. I'm not ashamed to share my views, but I hate politics and I don't trust most politicians. However, I understand that people want to hear my opinion because I'm not just a celebrity, but also a former Republican governor,” Schwarzenegger explained on beginning of the statement he published on X on Wednesday.
Later in the statement, the 77-year-old actor and politician distanced himself from the actions of both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party. “Honestly, I don't like any party at the moment,” Schwarzenegger said. As he emphasized, he is always an American first and a Republican only later. “That's why this week I'm voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz,” he emphasized.

Schwarzenegger endorsed Harris
As Arnold Schwarzenegger said, he writes all this because he believes that there are many people who think like him. “You don't recognize your country. And you have the right to be angry,” he emphasized. When explaining his choice, he devoted a lot of space to his opponent, Harris, although he did not mention him by name. “A candidate who doesn't respect your votes if you don't vote for him; a candidate who sends his supporters to storm the Capitol while he watches with a Diet Coke in his hand; a candidate who has demonstrated no ability to work on any legislation other than cutting taxes that will help his donors and other wealthy people like me but won't help anyone else; a candidate who thinks Americans who disagree with him are bigger enemies than China, Russia and North Korea will not solve our problems.” – writes the actor. Another term of office for such a president would, in his opinion, be another “four years of bullshit” that will make Americans more angry, divided and full of hate.
Arnold Schwarzenegger on the “worst president”
Arnold Schwarzenegger was the governor of California for the Republican Party from 2003 to 2011. In recent years, the actor and politician has been openly critical Donald Trump. “President Trump is a failed leader. He will go down in history as the worst president in history,” he said in a recording he posted on X (then called Twitter) after attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Referring to the riots at the Capitol and the related socio-political situation in… USASchwarzenegger expressed hope that “America will emerge from these dark days and shine again.”
