Kamil Grabara is playing his first season with Wolfsburg. He joined the club for EUR 13.5 million from Denmark's FC Copenhagen. Although he is doing well on German pitches, the coach of the Polish national team, MichaĆ Probierz, consistently ignores him when sending him call-ups. And what do the Germans themselves think about him after nine matches in his new colors?
What words about Grabar. Nine matches were enough. “One of the best”
About this in an interview with the portal WP Sportowe Fakty Franz Krafczyk, a journalist of the local portal 90min.de, was asked. He immediately drew attention to the poor performance of the entire Wolfsburg team, which after eight rounds is only in 14th place with eight points. This means that it is definitely closer to fighting for relegation than for European cups. However, the journalist does not see it as the Pole's fault. – It is possible that if it weren't for Grabara, the situation would be even worse. The Polish goalkeeper's performances allow us to call him one of Wolfsburg's best players, next to Amoura and Arnold – he emphasized.
Grabara has played nine matches so far and scored as many as 16 goals. The statistics are not impressive, but they also do not reflect the contribution that the Pole has to the team's fortunes. Wolfsburg has had serious defensive problems since the beginning of the season and the goalkeeper has saved them from trouble many times. Recently, however, it has been getting better, as the last two meetings ended with zero results. First, Wolfsburg drew 0-0 with FC St. Pauli, and Grabara saved five shots. And later eliminated Borussia Dortmund from the German Cup after extra time after winning 1-0.
A German journalist was delighted with Grabara. He says straight: “I didn't expect this”
In the first of these matches, Grabara played with the captain's armband, which made a great impression on Krafczyk. – I didn't expect it and I don't know if anyone could. Grabara played in this role after only eight matches in the new team, which does not happen often. The coach himself commented on his choice. He said that “Kamil, thanks to his behavior and position in the team, is someone who will probably always play in the future.” You can see that he has a big influence on his colleagues, he noted.
In total, Grabara has recorded three clean sheets this season. He will have another opportunity on Saturday, November 2. Then his Wolfsburg will face Augsburg at home. Start at 15:30.
