An aggressive 16-year-old who attacked the police with an ax was shot by them. Earlier, the teenager set fire to the car and destroyed the apartment and the yard.
Police officers from Bartoszyce were called at night to intervene in a village in the Bisztynek commune. A woman asking for help reported that a 16-year-old on her property had set her car on fire.
– When the police arrived at the scene, firefighters had already extinguished the car. The yard and the apartment where the boy was staying were destroyed, said Sgt. Marta Kabelis, spokeswoman for the District Police Commander in Bartoszyce.
The teenager allegedly hit his neighbor in the back with an ax and threatened to “kill everyone.”
The police met the teenager on the road in a neighboring village. The boy had an axe. “The police stopped the car at a safe distance and shouted that he should put down the axe. It didn't help, so they used gas on the teenager, but it didn't help either. They fired 6 warning shots in the air, but the boy still attacked them with the axe. When The teenager threatened the health and life of the policemen, they shot him in the thigh, which incapacitated the aggressive teenager,” said Sgt. Kabelis.
The boy was taken to hospital
She emphasized that the officers immediately provided the boy with first aid, and firefighters also supported them.
– First, the boy was taken to the hospital in Bartoszyce, then he was transported to the children's hospital in Olsztyn – she explained.
Since the teenager is a resident of the Biskupiec commune, the local family court has already been informed about the case.
