The Ministry of the Interior and Administration has prepared a draft regulation, which states that on November 11, there would be a ban on carrying weapons in Warsaw. On this day, Independence Day celebrations are planned in the capital.
The regulation of the Ministry of Interior and Administration was published on the website of the Government Legislation Center on Tuesday. The document shows that on November 11, a ban on carrying or moving unloaded weapons of any kind will be introduced in Warsaw.
In connection with the celebrations
In the justification to the draft regulation, we read that the introduction of a temporary ban on carrying weapons or moving them unloaded is justified by the need to ensure the safety of both participants in state ceremonies taking place on that day, as well as public meetings.
“Due to the importance of this undertaking and the expected number of several hundred thousand participants, there is a need to ensure safety and public order in the place indicated in the regulation,” it was written.
It was also indicated that the second alert level (BRAVO) and the second CRP alert level (BRAVO CRP) are currently in force throughout Poland, introduced by order of the Prime Minister.
The regulation enters into force on November 11, 2024.
On November 11, Poland celebrates National Independence Day to commemorate the transfer of the Supreme Command of the Polish Army to Józef Piłsudski by the Regency Council on that day in 1918. The holiday was established by the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in 1937. It was abolished in 1945 and was not officially celebrated throughout the period of the Polish People's Republic. The holiday was restored in 1989 by law – since then, National Independence Day on November 11 is a day off from work.
