In the two inspected trucks, the services discovered a total of 32 tons of dried tobacco. According to them, its value is PLN 19.5 million. Inside the vehicle, the driver was supposed to transport granulated fertilizer.
The first inspection was attended by officers of the Bieszczady Border Guard Unit and the Masovian Customs and Tax Office. BiOSG spokesman Lt. Piotr Zakielarz announced on Wednesday that the services carried out a joint inspection on October 19 in the Grójec poviat.
– The result of their work was the discovery of over 15.8 tons of illegal dried tobacco. The goods, valued at over PLN 9.6 million, were transported in a truck trailer by a 49-year-old Pole, said Lieutenant Zakielarz.

In turn, the spokeswoman for the head of the National Tax Administration, Asp. Justyna Pasieczyńska pointed out that, according to the transport documents, the cargo was supposed to be granulated fertilizer. Instead, the officers found cartons of dried tobacco on 33 pallets.
– The driver was questioned as a suspect. He did not admit to committing a tax crime, Pasieczyńska added.

The second inspection took place in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, where a truck driven by a 43-year-old Pole was stopped. Officers from the Masovian National Audit Office and the Central Investigation Bureau took part in it.

“The truck's trailer contained 108 cartons of dried tobacco weighing over 16 tons and with an estimated value of nearly PLN 9.9 million. The driver stated that he was transporting cargo from Hungary to Lithuania and did not know what kind of goods it was,” Pasieczyńska said.
This driver also did not admit to committing a tax crime.
