The police are investigating the circumstances of a serious accident in Targówek. A drunk driver drove at high speed from a minor road into the intersection. He hit a passing car and later damaged two more. One of the drivers recorded the dangerous-looking collision. The perpetrator himself was arrested. He did not have a driving license and the police found cocaine in the car he was driving.
The incident occurred on Saturday around 3:30 p.m. near Jórskiego and Łokietka streets in Targówek. As one of the participants of the incident described to us, the driver of the Audi, leaving the secondary street, first hit the Hyundai, then crushed the front of a Ford driving on the opposite lane and together they crashed into a Mazda standing in front of the pedestrian crossing.
He has a recording of the incident
– The Audi driver was driving so fast that the front camera didn't even register the car on the street to my right. It's only in the rear camera that you can see him hitting my backside. I would have been driving a second faster and I would have missed the incident, but a second later and I would have been hit centrally in the side, absorbing all the kinetic energy that led to the smashing of two more cars – describes one of the drivers.
And he sums up: – Two fire trucks, two ambulances, two police cars involved. The accident involved 11 passengers and four cars. Three cars qualified for scrapping, mine for repair. Fortunately, there were no victims, only bruised people.
We asked the capital police about the matter. Jacek Wiśniewski from the press department of the Police Headquarters confirms that the 25-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol.
– He damaged three vehicles, he drove without a license and there was cocaine in the car – the policeman told us. He added that no one was hurt, and after the arrest was completed, the man was released.
