Winter illumination is being installed on the Royal Route and Świętokrzyska Street. It will once again take strollers back to the 1950s and 1960s. There will be Christmas lights and baubles in the shape of toadstools. Automotive delights include a mermaid and a moped. The decorations can be admired in all their glory from the beginning of December.
This coming winter, retro-style decorations will shine on the streets of Warsaw. They will refer to the 1950s and 1960s. There will be Christmas decorations typical of the Polish People's Republic, such as old Christmas tree lights, baubles in the shape of toadstools, but also crystals known from grandma's cupboards.
Mermaid, moped and big Christmas tree
The Royal Route and Świętokrzyska Street will be decorated using chains, decorations and lights. Additionally, there will be free-standing decorations – e.g. on Pięciu Rogów Square – illuminations in the shape of relics from those years. This includes: forgotten carbonators or shop scales. There will also be something for the youngest. Retro illumination of carousels and toys from the childhood of their parents and grandparents is planned.
On the city streets you will also be able to see a mermaid – a car from FSO and a lynx moped.
In turn, at Castle Square there will be a 27-meter-high multimedia Christmas tree made of energy-saving and modern materials. As emphasized by the Municipal Roads Authority, all illuminations are made of energy-saving eco-LEDs, which consume 10 times less electricity than traditional lighting.
You have to wait until December
Typically, the illumination will start at the beginning of December. Currently, the contractor is transporting and installing all the decorations in the field. “It is a demanding and time-consuming task. However, the end result is worth the wait,” the road workers encouraged.
The newly installed decorations debuted last season. As ZDM emphasized, they received many positive opinions. They are returning this season due to the contract with the contractor – Multidekor – which was signed for three years. “This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to feel like they were in Juliusz Machulski's 'Kingsajz' again,” emphasized the Municipal Roads Authority.
