Every athlete knows that training improves fitness. Doctors argue that the same applies to the heart. Moderate physical exercise can be our salvation. It translates not only into better, but also into longer life. Cardiologists have evidence of this.
Mr. Andrzej Miernicki is 71 years old and has a number of diseases. The ambulance had just brought him to the hospital because he had a heart attack. – My disrespectful behavior led to me being hospitalized – he admits.
When talking about disrespectful behavior, the patient had in mind races such as the one in Krakow, which took place on November 16. He never moved much for his health, for a better heart condition.
– People run, but I couldn't. I couldn't ride a hundred meters on this bike, I had to get down and put the bike in the storage room – says Andrzej Miernicki. His heart attack was controlled. However, diabetes and its complications remain. – It's sad that a 71-year-old man only now understands what a movement is – he says.

Cardiologists encourage exercise
Moderate physical exercise helps prolong life – cardiologists argued in Krakow on November 16, not only while sitting at a scientific conference, but also while running in the Planty Park.
– You can run in any outfit, in any conditions, regardless of weather conditions. Today we have beautiful weather for November, sunny, in November at seven in the morning on Saturday – because it always happens at this time. Sometimes it's foggy, it's humid, it's frosty, but it's always magical – says Prof. Piotr Jankowski, cardiologist from the Polish Society of Cardiology.
Nothing is difficult for those who want it, even in a suit and tie. Although it's better to run in a tracksuit – like Tomek. – First of all, I run for myself, to prove something to myself. It's a very nice way to spend time, and I also like to move, says the boy.
Physical exercise mobilizes our body to work at the highest speed. This, in turn, causes the heart to work harder and the heart rate to accelerate. In this way, the circulatory system delivers more life-giving oxygen from the lungs and excretes more toxins.
In this way, we can extend our life by up to six years. – It all depends, of course, on the dose and training status. A person who is just starting running, if he or she has the correct body weight, could actually start training gradually – comments Dr. Hab. n. med. Marek Klocek from the 1st Department of Cardiology and Interventional Electrocardiology and Arterial Hypertension of the University Hospital in Krakow.
