A cold front is moving over Poland, bringing rain, sleet and snow. Behind it another, secondary front advances. There are also many strong winds in parts of the country. Find out what to expect in the weather on Wednesday.

Poland is under the influence of a deep low-pressure vortex with its center located over the Baltic Sea on Wednesday morning. The pressure in it is 976 hectopascals. – During the day, it is expected to move northeast, towards the Gulf of Finland. The movement of the center of the vortex over the Baltic Sea results in strong winds in Central Europe – informed tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek.

Fronts over Poland

A cold front will move over the country. – It stretches from Podlasie, through Masovia, the Łódź Land, to Silesia. It is accompanied by rainfall, in Silesia – rain and snow, and in the Sudetes – snow. Behind it is a narrower, secondary front, already formed in the moist air of Arctic origin flowing from the north. It brings snow and rain in Pomerania – the forecaster told tvnmeteo.pl. She added that wind gusts are expected to reach 70 kilometers per hour in the front zone, up to 100 km/h in the mountains, and even more in the peak areas.

During the day, the southern and eastern parts of the country will remain within the front zone, with rain and snow in the zone, and snow in the mountains. At least 10 centimeters of snow will fall in the Carpathians. In other regions, heavy cloudiness with clear showers and light rain, sleet and snow are forecast.

In Pomerania, in the zone of the secondary cold front, there will be heavy rainfall with sleet and snow. As a result of the influence of the Baltic Sea, short-term snowstorms and snowfall are possible.

Where is it raining?

On Wednesday morning, rainfall occurs in the belt from Podlasie, through Masovia, the Łódź Land, to Silesia. It is raining with snow in Silesia, and wet snow in the eastern part of the Sudetes, in the Kłodzko Valley.

The second rainfall band extends over Pomerania. It's raining and snowing there. Road conditions are difficult. The western wind, only in the east blowing from the south, is moderate, sometimes quite strong. In gusts it accelerates to 50-65 km/h, in the mountains to 70-90 km/h. At Kasprowy Wierch, gusts reach up to 126 km/h.
