On Tuesday, the trial regarding the death of a 17-year-old resident of Tarnowa began at the District Court in Konin. Fabian Zydor disappeared in 2016 and his body has not been found yet. For many years, investigators tried to find out what happened to the teenager. According to the prosecutor's office, Fabian was murdered by three men, and the motive was an unpaid debt. All the defendants had previous criminal records and were serving sentences in prisons for other crimes.
On Tuesday, at 9 a.m., the trial regarding the murder of 17-year-old Fabian Zydor began in the District Court in Konin. The prosecutor's office filed an indictment in early October. Three men will sit on the stand: Łukasz B., Jan K. and Radosław M.
– They are accused of murder. We failed to find the teenager's body, but the prosecutor based the indictment on numerous pieces of evidence, said Łukasz Wawrzyniak, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Poznań, right after the end of the investigation.
The case of Fabian Zydor was discussed by Dariusz Łapiński in a reportage “The Last Trace. Fabian” on TVN24 GO.
Detention in prisons
Those detained are known criminals. In the past, they had already been detained by the police for, among other things, abducting and imprisoning a man due to a dispute over a dispute. They have already been convicted for these crimes and are currently serving long prison sentences. For this reason, detentions in the Fabian case were held in prisons.
– 40-year-old Łukasz B., 31-year-old Jan K. and Radosław M. are accused of a brutal murder committed jointly and in concert, and as a result of a motivation that deserves special condemnation, they have been in pretrial detention since their arrest in March last year. None of them pleaded guilty to committing the alleged crime. They face penalties ranging from 15 years to life imprisonment, said Wawrzyniak.
They put the body in a bag and threw it into the Warta River
– The evidence collected and presented by the prosecutor indicates that Radosław M., Łukasz B. and Jan K., kidnapping the injured party, put a cloth bag over his head and forcibly dragged him into the car. In this vehicle they moved to the area of the bridge over the river. There, they pulled him out of the vehicle and brutally beat him. When the teenager fell to the ground and stopped moving, one of them stood on his head. Then the defendants “dumped” the victim's body on a tarp spread on the ground, stripped it down to its underwear, poured an unidentified substance on it, and then wrapped it in a tarp and put it in a bag, which they loaded with additional objects and threw it into the Warta River – explained the spokesman for the Poznań prosecutor's office.
Investigators claim that they managed to determine the motive of the perpetrators of the crime. According to investigators, the reason for the men's actions was a debt for drugs purchased by the 17-year-old.
About a breakthrough in this case the police reported in March 2023.
The officers who arrested the men had been working on the case for two years. – They collected information, evidence, and searched for the body of the missing Fabian Zydor on an unprecedented scale. The Provincial Police Commander in Poznań also offered a financial reward for helping to determine the circumstances of the disappearance of the 17-year-old – reminded Junior Insp. Andrzej Borowiak, spokesman for the Greater Poland police.
As he said, “the police officers handling this case have repeatedly provided the public with information about what they are dealing with, and have also appealed to contact all those people who may have had knowledge about this whole case.” – Among other things, there was a very detailed report on TVN and these TV materials made many people aware that we were returning to this investigation – he said.
– We received many different signals, which were checked very thoroughly by police officers and prosecutors, and when certain facts regarding this whole case emerged, of course we reached out to witnesses, to sources of evidence, and these materials certainly, one could say, helped significantly. in solving the mystery of this murder – added Borowiak.
