More than half of Poles have a negative opinion about the work of the Smolensk subcommittee, headed by PiS MP Antoni Macierewicz. This is confirmed by the latest survey for “Fakty” TVN and TVN24. There is also a notice to the prosecutor's office regarding Antoni Macierewicz regarding the Karkonosze operation, i.e. the purchase together with other countries of an aircraft used for air refueling. Macierewicz made the decision alone to withdraw from the program.
The head of the Law and Justice parliamentary club, Mariusz Błaszczak, quickly and without hesitation declares that there was an attack in Smolensk, although he was not even asked about it. The answer was to be given by the new presidential candidate supported by him, who, after a short historical argument, was asked “whether there was an attack or not.”
– We know the mentality of today's leaders of the Russian Federation, so we cannot rule out that there was an attack – says Karol Nawrocki, president of the Institute of National Remembrance and candidate of Law and Justice for president.
However, there is a significant difference between “it cannot be ruled out” and “it was” which Mariusz Błaszczak did not attempt to explain. – I won't speculate why someone said something. I'm talking about facts. I presented you the facts. Please respect the facts. Please respect the facts, says Mariusz Błaszczak, head of the Law and Justice parliamentary club.
Assassination theory
Recently, the would-be candidate of Law and Justice for president also had a problem answering the same question. – Please ask the party spokesman what the party's position is – Tobiasz Bocheński, MEP from Law and Justice, commented on Telewizja Polska on November 14.
The theory about the attack in the club is not a theory, but a proven course of events that cannot be disputed. – I will talk to him about this topic, it's good that you told me this – said the president of Law and Justice, Jarosław Kaczyński, on November 14.
The conversation with the president apparently helped, because later the MEP no longer had any doubts.
More than half of Poles have a negative opinion of the Smolensk subcommittee
Antoni Macierewicz blatantly manipulated the evidence and simply hid the evidence that did not fit the thesis about the attack. This is what the commission that investigated his actions says, but also prosecutors, some members of his own subcommittee, and even foreign experts whom Antoni Macierewicz himself employed.
– Even PiS voters are critical of Antoni Macierewicz's activities. Probably not all, but not a small part of PiS voters – points out Mariusz Witczak, MP from the Civic Coalition.
This is confirmed by the results of a survey conducted by Opinia24 for “Fakty” TVN and TVN24. 53 percent of respondents assessed Antoni Macierewicz's Smolensk subcommittee poorly. 22 percent of respondents were of the opposite opinion. 25 percent of respondents chose the answer “I don't know/it's hard to say”.
– Jarosław Kaczyński also has a problem, because he hid it, because he thinks that he is a pillar of Law and Justice. So if the Law and Justice pillar has problems, the Law and Justice party also has problems, says Left MP Tomasz Trela.
Withdrawal from the Karkonosze program. “Diplomatic betrayal”
More than 40 notifications to the prosecutor's office related to the work of Antoni Macierewicz's subcommittee have just been joined by another one – closely related to him. – Concerns diplomatic treason. This is the result of the work of the commission for investigating Russian influence, i.e. the notification submitted by General Stróżyk – says Adam Bodnar, Minister of Justice and Prosecutor General.
This is about the “Karkonosze program”, i.e. the purchase, together with European allies, of aircraft enabling air refueling.
Poland, along with the Netherlands, was one of the initiators of this project. – Do you know how the information was conveyed to the Netherlands that we were withdrawing? Mr. Macierewicz told the Dutch Minister of Defense? He came up in the corridors, said two sentences and left, said General Jarosław Stróżyk, chairman of the commission for the study of Russian influence, on November 4.
The then minister made the decision alone, alone, without any military analyses, although the ability to refuel in the air for all armed forces is crucial. The tanks in modern fighters allow for just two hours of flight.
– Because the consequences would be that this structure would be decided by our allies, not us. We could use it additionally. It makes no sense, said Antoni Macierewicz, an MP from Law and Justice, on October 30.
As a result, today Germany and the small Czech Air Force use flying tankers, and Polish F-16s must rely on the capabilities provided by the United States.
