In the coming days, major changes are planned on the excavated sections of roads along the ongoing tram investments. Drivers will recover Spacerowa and a part of Rakowiecka. At the end of the year, it will be a bit easier for drivers from Miasteczko Wilanów.

Konrad Niklewicz, vice-president of Tramwaje Warszawskie, told journalists about the nearest plans of tram drivers related to ongoing investments and expected changes in traffic organization in Mokotów, Ochota and Wilanów.

Construction of tracks, changes on Rakowiecka Street

On Friday, late in the evening, drivers coming from Śródmieście will regain the right turn into Rakowiecka. On the section between Puławska and Wiśniowa, two traffic directions will be restored: one lane in each direction. From Rakowiecka to Puławska you can only turn right. One direction of traffic will also be restored on Olszewska Street from Sandomierska to Puławska.

On Sunday evening, Rakowiecka will be closed between Aleja Niepodległości and Kazimierzowska. Konrad Niklewicz assured that access to the property would be guaranteed.

In turn, at the turn of the first and second quarter of next year, occupation of the eastern road of Niepodległości Avenue is planned.

Drivers will regain Spacerowa

Drivers who are unable to drive through Spacerowa Street will soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief. Today they can only ride it downhill.

– The general contractor informed us that if the weather conditions are the same as today, i.e. allowing for asphalting work, this week he will finish adjusting the manholes and sewage manholes on the closed section of Spacerowa and start laying the final, final bituminous layer – announced Vice President Niklewicz. – This means that next week it will be possible to allow traffic along Spacerowa – he emphasized.

Problem with the bike path

During Tuesday's meeting, the issue of a bicycle path along the new track was discussed.

Let us remind you that officials did not take advantage of the opportunity to “glue” the hole in the bicycle path on Puławska between Dolna and Goworka. Moreover, during the construction of the tracks on Goworka and Spacerowa, near Taras Shevchenko Square, it turned out that another “bicycle teleport” had been built, which was pointed out to officials by “Gazeta Stołeczna” in the spring.

As the director of the Municipal Roads Authority, Łukasz Puchalski, explained on Tuesday, it was impossible to designate a bicycle path along Goworek. – It is physically impossible to run this bicycle path without demolishing the building. Therefore, Tramwaje Warszawskie is finishing designing a bicycle path through Shevchenko Square and further behind the buildings on Goworka to Puławska – said Puchalski.

He also announced that work in this area is to start at the beginning of next year. Currently, the contractor is correcting another oversight by officials and is building a bicycle path next to the former Moscow cinema.

Tram to Wilanów – completion of works in autumn 2025

After the line to Miasteczko Wilanów was launched in October Work is underway to recreate roads on both sides of the track. At the turn of the year, the opening of the eastern road of Rzeczypospolitej Avenue is planned, from the vicinity of Zawrotka at Oś Królewskia to Branicki.

As previously announced, in the summer of 2025, trams will run along the tracks along św. Boniface to the Stegna loop.

The vice-president of the tram company announced that the main road works on Belwederska, Sobieskiego and Aleja Rzeczypospolitej streets will be completed at the turn of the third and fourth quarter of next year..

The most popular stops of the new line

Tuesday's meeting was also an opportunity to present statistics from the first month of operation of the tram line to Miasteczko Wilanów.

Since the route's launch until November 20, more than a total of 1.364 million passengers have used lines 14 and 16, of which 40 percent on the new section. Between the Goworka and Miasteczko Wilanów stops, 548,000 passengers boarded trams. The previous record was set on November 14: 77,811 passengers on tram lines 14 and 16, of which 30,448 boarded on the new section.

Officials also indicated that among the 10 most popular stops at which the “fourteenth” and “sixteenth” stops, as many as seven are located on the new section: Dolna (share of 10.7%), Św. Boniface (10%), Temple of Divine Providence (8.8%), Sobieski, Miasteczko Wilanów, Nałęczowska (8.4% each). The least amount of travelers boards at Idzikowski (2.9%) and Kostrzewski (4.3%).

Tram to Zachodnie “on schedule”

In the second half of October, tram drivers occupied part of the road of Aleje Jerozolimskie. There – as Konrad Niklewicz assured – the removal of underground collisions has just been completed.

– At this moment, construction of diaphragm walls is underway. This is very intensive work and is progressing at a good pace. In a few months, new traffic arrangements should be expected on Aleje Jerozolimskie so that the contractor can build diaphragm walls on the next section, he announced. – Each time we will maintain the same number of lanes available to drivers, although these lanes will be marked slightly differently – noted Niklewicz.

He reminded that the eastern half of the road on Bitwy Warszawskiej 1920 Street is closed. The contractor started demolition works and removal of collisions on the section between Grójecka and Szczęśliwicka. However, in the further part, the section between Szczęśliwicka and the Zesłańców Siberyskich roundabout, diaphragm walls of the tunnel exit ramp were almost completed, with the exception of a dozen or so meters colliding with the energy infrastructure. In turn, in the Five Sisters Park, the contractor built approximately 120 meters of diaphragm walls, which, together with the exit ramp, constitutes approximately 35 percent of the planned scope of works.

Work on the construction of an underground stop under the Western Railway Station is underway as scheduled.

In the first quarter of 2025, work is expected to begin at the intersection of Grójecka, Bitwy Warszawska 1920 and Banacha. Works at this location will enter the decisive phase in the middle of next year. – We will not significantly impede traffic at this intersection until we complete the entire cross-section of Aleje Jerozolimskie – assured Konrad Niklewicz.
