Jim Abrahams, an American screenwriter, director and producer, co-creator of cult comedies such as “Is the Pilot Coming With Us?”, died at the age of 80. and films from the “Naked Gun” series. Information about Abrahams' death was confirmed by his son on Tuesday.
Jim Abrahams died of natural causes at his home in Santa Monica, California, his son told The Hollywood Reporter. He was 80 years old. As the American magazine emphasized, Abrahams, together with brothers Jerry and David Zucker, “turned the comedy genre upside down” with titles such as “Is There a Pilot Coming With Us?”, “Special Squad” and films from the “Naked Gun” series starring Leslie Nielsen main page.

Abrahams, together with David Zucker, was responsible for the script and direction of “Is the Pilot Coming With Us?”, a disaster comedy from 1980, which is still “considered one of the best comedies of all time”, emphasized the British “Guardian”. Abrahams also contributed to the scripts of such films as “Top Secret”, “The Naked Gun: The Files of Special Branch” and “Scary Movie 4”. He also directed films such as “First, Do No Harm”, nominated for the Golden Globes for Meryl Streep's role, and “Mafia!”.
The Hollywood Reporter noted that Abrahams and the Zucker brothers' “specialty” was parody. “The more absurdity, the better,” we read. Outside of his work in Hollywood, Abrahams was active in charity. His son's epilepsy led him and his wife to found The Charlie Foundation to Help Cure Pediatric Epilepsy. The foundation, which has been operating for 30 years, has been raising awareness about the treatment of people with epilepsy.
