Wojciech Olejniczak will not be arrested – lawyer Jakub Wende announced on the X platform. The court applied other preventive measures to him. Operations are still ongoing with the remaining detainees in Katowice. According to the National Prosecutor's Office, the case concerns economic crimes.

On Thursday before 23 former Minister of Agriculture and former boss SLD Wojciech Olejniczak left the Katowice prosecutor's office building and was taken to the court, where a detention hearing was held.

– The court has just announced its decision regarding the prosecutor's request for pre-trial detention against Wojciech Olejniczak. The District Court did not accept the application. We are going home with the client – wrote Wende.

The National Prosecutor's Office confirmed these reports. It is also known that other preventive measures were taken against Wojciech Olejniczak. He is banned from leaving the country and under police supervision. The amount of the property guarantee is one million zlotys. This information was first reported by RMF FM radio.

As TVN24 reporter Katarzyna Mikulec found out, operations are still ongoing with the remaining five people in Katowice. Prosecutor Tomasz Tadla informed that not all people received applications for temporary arrest.

The case concerns crimes of an economic nature

On Wednesday, agents in Warsaw, Radom and Zgierz CBA they detained six people. On the same day, they were transported to the Katowice department of the National Prosecutor's Office. The interrogations lasted almost until Thursday morning. Then, activities with some of the suspects were continued.

As we learned from the prosecutor's office, the detained people – including Wojciech Olejniczak, former chairman of SLD and former Minister of Agriculture – were charged. The prosecutor's office has not yet disclosed their content.

The spokesman for the National Prosecutor's Office, Prosecutor Przemysław Nowak, informed on Wednesday on X that the case concerns crimes of an economic nature. According to unofficial information, the arrests concern the case of Alior Bank granting loans to the indebted Zakłady Mięsne Henryk Kania. At that time, the detained Wojciech Olejniczak was the director of the agro business department in Alior.

Zakłady Mięsne Kania in Pszczyna, which was previously a market leader, went bankrupt in 2020. Their founder, Henryk Kania, died a few days ago. His son Henryk, who took over the management of the company, is the main suspect in the ongoing investigation in the Silesian PK department. He was wanted on an international arrest warrant and a European arrest warrant.
