On Tuesday, a cable car broke down on Chopok in the Low Tatras in Slovakia. 12 skiers got stuck, all of them were safely evacuated.
The failure occurred on the southern side of the peak. Among the skiers who got stuck in the carriages were ten students aged 16-17, reported Horska Zachranna Serwis (the Slovak equivalent of TOPR).
Rescuers brought everyone to the ground using ropes and then took them to a hotel. None of the skiers were injured.
