Cooperation between Poland and Canada. “Three things constitute victory. If we lose one of them, the worst-case scenario is possible”

On Wednesday, a meeting of the heads of the Polish and foreign ministries of defense was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of National Defense Canada. According to information provided by the ministry, the meeting was to focus on strengthening relations between our countries in the field of defense, security and exchanging experiences. In addition, the issue of military cooperation and within NATO was to be discussed.

– Polish-Canadian relations have never been as good as they are today – assured Kosiniak-Kamysz during a joint press conference after the meeting with Blair. As examples, he mentioned the cooperation of the armed forces and the presence of Canadian soldiers in our country who provide support Ukraine and exercise together with Polish army.

Kosiniak-Kamysz thanked Blair for Canada's involvement in the security of NATO's eastern flank. – Cooperation between the Polish army and the Canadian army is very good. Our soldiers simply like each other and cooperate well, said the head of the Ministry of National Defense.

– Strong alliances, a strong army and a strong society – these three things determine victory. If we have them, we will win. If we lose any of these things, unfortunately, the worst-case scenario is possible – he said.

Kosiniak-Kamysz informed that several issues were agreed upon at the meeting. – We want to sign an agreement on improving our skills and cooperation for the years 2025-2026. Describe precisely what Canada and Poland can do together in the field of security, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

He added that both countries have clear positions when it comes to supporting Ukraine, and at the same time pointed out that Canada from the very beginning war in Ukraine declared far-reaching help.

Kosiniak-Kamysz also informed about the determination of several matters regarding NATO investments, including strategic and structural investments that concern the operational capabilities of NATO troops in Europe. – We talked about improving qualifications, using the skills to use the most modern equipment, as well as improving qualifications in the field of operating Leopards – reported the head of the Ministry of National Defense. He assured that “the experiences we have already had with the Canadian side will be continued.”

– It is very important to us that Canadian soldiers are on the eastern flank (NATO – ed.), not only in Poland, but a very large group of Canadian soldiers are on Latviathere are also Polish soldiers there – noted the Deputy Prime Minister. – This is extremely encouraging for us. (…) I am very happy that we are together once again, thank you for all the support from Canada, we are open to deepening this cooperation – emphasized Kosiniak-Kamysz.

– I think that this plan for 2025-2026, which we will adopt soon, will constitute an even greater development and integration of our forces and our responsibility for security – said the Minister of Defense.

Bill Blair thanked the Polish side for the hospitality provided to Canadian soldiers. He assured that Poland and Canada “have a common approach, common responsibility towards defense, but also towards support for Ukraine.” – Canada is a peaceful nation, we are often far from conflicts, but we know our responsibility (…). Canada and Poland stand shoulder to shoulder on many occasions and the relationship between our countries is strong, emphasized the Canadian minister.
