An unexpected guest came to a family from the US state of Virginia. An owl flew into the house through the chimney and sat on the top of the Christmas tree. It wasn't easy to chase her away.
As described by local media, on Wednesday evening a family from Arlington first heard strange noises coming from the fireplace. A moment later, their dog started acting restless and howling.
– I walked into the living room and saw a huge owl – said Savannah Burgoyne, the owner of the house. The bird was sitting on top of the Christmas tree.
The family opened the large balcony door, but the owl did not fly out of the house. Instead, it moved from the Christmas tree to the kitchen and back again.
The owl replaced the star
The recording made by the household members shows an owl gliding under the ceiling and then landing on the top of the Christmas tree. Earlier, she knocked down a star mounted on it.
The family called specialists from an animal protection organization. An employee caught the owl in a net and took it outside. He said he let the owl fly around the house until it got tired, which made catching it easier. The bird flew away towards the trees.
