This is the most important thing in hematology and oncology – said the head of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity, Jerzy Owsiak, on TVN24. He referred to the selection of equipment purchased by WOŚP with the money collected during the Final.

The 33rd Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity will take place on January 26. This time the orchestra will play for pediatric oncology and hematology. Head of WOŚP Jerzy Owsiak He was a guest of “Fakty po Faktach” on Monday.

– Nine years ago, we bought 80 ultrasound scanners for early diagnostics. This showed that such forward-looking thinking and diagnostics are expensive, but later it pays off. This gave great results. Oncologists and hematologists said: “Listen, this helped us a lot, this quick diagnosis to treat children as quickly as possible,” he said. – This year we bought a record number of over 1,600 devices – he added.

Owsiak: we buy quality last

– It turns out that this entire area of ​​oncology and hematology talks about space devices, really perfect ones that can work great in the hands of Polish doctors, nurses, paramedics and laboratory technicians – he explained.

He noted that the prices of equipment are high, although not “exorbitant”. – You can't build something cheap. If you pay little, you pay twice – said Owsiak.

Owsiak explained that the foundation cooperates with experts who select the best devices. – Don't look at prices, talk about quality. In the end, we buy quality and this is the most important thing in hematology and oncology – he emphasized.

He reminded that the money from the 33rd Final will also be allocated to oncology. – These are 18 children's wards, 5 oncological neurosurgery centers, 6 oncological surgery centers, 4 pathology departments, 17 hospices – Owsiak enumerated.

– We play because we like it and we say that we play for health – he said. He said that the permanent number of volunteers involved in the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Finals is 120,000. – There are headquarters not only in Poland, but all over the world. This is the most beautiful thing, because it is such a Polish voice in the world – he added.

Owsiak: we're not stopping

Owsiak also talked about how WOŚP helped flood victims. – We helped immediately. Our rule is that if something happens, we release money immediately – explained Owsiak.

– We want to help the hospital in Nysa. There are rooms for computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. This is the hospital that was flooded and had to be evacuated, he added. He said that “it will look bad for a long time.”

– That is why we, as a foundation, do not stop – declared Owsiak.
